No longer in the manufacturer range
CrossingTech has stopped making the Thermal Twist Injector. The manufacturer's ball vape collection now lists only the Ruby Twist Pro, the Ruby Twist Injector and the two WOHW generations; one retailer gives the reason as development shifting to the Ruby Twist Pro. The titanium version is considered discontinued as well.
It can still be found in retail while remaining stock lasts — the price comparison on this page shows where. Anyone buying new should weigh two things: a discontinued device carries no further commitment on spare parts, and its successor shares base, controller and bowl fitting with it. The core head assembly is available separately, so moving to the ruby filling later remains possible.
Ball-less: solid core instead of a ball filling
"Ball-less" literally means: no balls. The Thermal Twist uses a continuous metal core incorporating a spiral twist. The air is guided along this spiral, extending its path and allowing it to absorb more heat than in a straight tube.
This very core later gave rise to the Ruby Twist: it was removed and the space was filled with cut rubies. Both devices therefore share the base, controller and bowl connection.
What this means compared with the Ruby Twist
The ruby filling provides a larger heat-emitting surface area. User reports indicate that this produces faster vapour build-up and slightly more flavour with the Ruby version. In terms of effects, however, the two are very close — choosing the Thermal Twist does not mean sacrificing potency, only finer details.
In return, the Thermal Twist is more affordable and robust: there are no balls that can shift, become clogged or need replacing. Anyone wishing to upgrade later can swap the head — the Core-Head assembly is available separately.
PID control and temperatures
A PID controller keeps the temperature constant: it continuously measures it and adjusts the heating power instead of simply passing electricity through. CrossingTech no longer publishes a temperature range for the Thermal Twist: the device has left the manufacturer range, and no product page for it survives in the web archive either. The figures circulating in retail run from 280 to 390 degrees and contradict one another, so we do not carry them as a device specification. The controller dial spans roughly 100 to over 500 degrees — that is the readout range of the regulator, not a clearance value. Anyone taking their cue from the Ruby Twist is on documented ground between 270 and 330 degrees.
It takes around 45 seconds to reach operating temperature. Vapour is drawn on demand, with no fixed session duration.
What is required for operation
A water pipe with a size 14 or 18 ground-glass joint is essential and is not included. A bowl is also required: the Original Glass Bowl for standard amounts, the Microdose Bowl for small portions or the Titanium Matrix Bowl as an alternative. Both herbs and concentrates can be used.
Some retailers offer the Injector in a titanium version. The difference lies in the core material, not the operating principle. As with all devices of this type, the heater head and bowl become extremely hot and remain exposed — a secure location out of the reach of children and pets is essential.
