How Portable and Ergonomic Is the Design?
The Odyssey 2 is machined from a single block of soapstone, measures 92 × 32 × 22 mm and weighs around 326 g – a pocket stone with no electronics, battery or button. Under the magnetically held coin cover sits the stainless steel basket for the material.
It is used like a pipe: lighter to the intake, draw, done. There is nothing to switch on and nothing to charge; the stone stores hardly any heat, so every draw starts fresh.
What Are the Ideal Temperature Settings?
There is no temperature setting; the Odyssey 2 has no electronics. The heat comes from a lighter held to the intake, and you control it through distance, angle and draw speed: flame further away and a faster draw for light, flavour-led vapour; closer and slower for dense draws.
The limit is combustion – hold the flame too close and the material ignites. The first sessions are practice; after that the technique sticks.
Vapour quality
MagicStone describes the Odyssey 2 as a direct-flame convection vaporizer: the flame never touches the material, it heats the air that is drawn through the stainless steel basket. The soapstone body stores hardly any heat, so every draw comes fresh from the flame – no preheating, no afterglow.
With the right technique the vapour is soft and full of flavour; soapstone and stainless steel add no taste of their own. Too close to the flame and it tips into roasting, which you taste immediately.
