XMAX V4 Pro

The V4 Pro works with a zirconium oxide ceramic chamber through which hot air flows without the plant material having direct contact with the heating surface. This pure convection produces vapour only during the draw — between draws, the material remains largely unchanged. By contrast, hybrid heaters (such as Crafty+ or Mighty+) also heat the material passively through wall contact; conduction heaters (such as DaVinci IQ3) even heat it entirely through wall contact.

Why pure convection shapes the flavour profile

According to general experience in the vaporizer community, pure convection delivers a clearer, more terpene-focused flavour profile at lower temperatures (170 to 185 °C). At higher temperatures (200 °C and above), denser vapour clouds are produced without the material being overloaded in advance by constant wall contact.

Full glass in the vapour path instead of ceramic or metal

The entire vapour path from the chamber outlet to the mouth is made of glass. Glass is chemically inert and does not add any flavour notes of its own — unlike PEI plastic, aluminium or uncoated ceramic. The removable glass mouthpiece can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol for cleaning and rinsed several times per week without building up flavour memory.

The V4 Pro reaches the target temperature in around 11 seconds. This is not the fastest heat-up time on the market — pump-action vaporizers (Sticky Brick Junior around 3 seconds), inductively heated devices (Tinymight 2 around 3 seconds) or butane vaporizers (VapCap M with lighter, instant) are physically faster. The stationary Tafee Bowle also reaches temperature in 1 second, but is not a portable in the narrower sense (246 g, large battery platform).

Realistic ranking among competitors

Compared with digitally controlled convection portables in the sub-200-Euro class with OLED or LCD display, however, the V4 Pro sits in the upper midfield: the XMAX V3 Nano needs 15 seconds, the XMAX Fog Pro 15 seconds, and the XVape Vista Mini 2 also 10 seconds (though conduction). For OLED-controlled pure convection with 1° increments in this price class, 11 seconds is a solid figure.

What you can do in 11 seconds

11 seconds is enough to put the V4 Pro down briefly after switching it on, take a sip of a drink or loosely distribute the material in the chamber. It is not an “instant session” like 3-second convection or a butane vape would be — but it is no longer “kettle waiting” like with 60-second hybrid heaters (Crafty+, Mighty+).

The V4 Pro uses a standard 18650 lithium-ion battery with 2.550 mAh. The battery is not permanently installed; it can be removed via a screw-cap cover at the bottom end of the housing. This design has three practical consequences:

1. Outdoor sessions without a socket: A second charged 18650 battery in your bag is enough for the second half of a hiking day or a longer event.
2. Compensating for battery ageing: Lithium-ion batteries noticeably lose capacity over 300 to 500 charge cycles. With permanently installed batteries, that means noticeably shorter sessions after 2 to 3 years. With the V4 Pro, you simply replace the battery for 6 to 12 Euro.
3. Pass-through charging: The V4 Pro charges via USB-C while you can vape at the same time. With a heavily discharged battery, this is a convenient desk solution.

Sessions per charge (experience values)

At moderate temperature (180 to 195 °C), a full charge delivers about 6 to 8 sessions of 5 minutes each. At higher temperatures (210 to 220 °C), the number drops to 4 to 6 sessions. A full charge via USB-C takes around 2 hours at 1 A charging current; a little less with a 2-A power adapter.

The V4 Pro covers the range from 100 to 220 °C in 1° increments. That is sufficiently granular for every common vaporisation spectrum.

Practical recommendation for getting started

Start with 185 °C for a balanced session. If you want to perceive more terpenes, go down in 5-degree increments. For denser clouds, increase to 200 to 210 °C. The 1° increments allow precise fine-tuning that is not possible in practice with hybrid or conduction heaters with coarser presets.

Yes, the V4 Pro is compatible with dosing capsules. The XMAX dosing capsules fit directly into the chamber and make both filling on the go and cleaning much easier. The chamber geometry is designed for the standard capsules commonly available (inner diameter approx. 10 mm).

Advantages of capsule use

• Preparation at home: You can pre-fill several capsules and swap them in seconds while out and about, without carrying a grinder or pouch.
• Clean chamber: Plant-material residues stay in the capsule and not on the chamber walls — cleaning effort drops noticeably.
• Consistent filling: One capsule holds around 0,1 to 0,15 g — the optimal amount for the V4 Pro chamber. This avoids overfilling, which blocks airflow with pure convection.

What to note when filling directly

If you fill directly without capsules, note: load the material loosely, do not press it down. Pure convection needs airflow through the plant material — a chamber packed too tightly drastically reduces vapour output and can lead to uneven extraction. Use a medium grind (not as fine as espresso powder, not too coarse), ideally with a four-piece grinder.

The V4 Pro has a three-stage airflow ring at the base of the device. Three stages — tight, medium, open — vary the draw resistance and therefore also the ratio of vapour density to vapour volume.

• Tight (stage 1): High draw resistance, small vapour volume, very dense and concentrated vapour clouds. Optimal for flavour sessions and lower temperatures.
• Medium (stage 2): Balanced standard for most sessions. Recommended setting for first use.
• Open (stage 3): Low draw resistance, larger vapour volume, softer clouds. Optimal for higher temperatures and water-filter use.

Relationship to temperature

The stages can be combined with temperature: tight plus low temperature maximally emphasises terpenes. Open plus high temperature delivers the densest clouds. This variability is rare in the price class — most devices under 100 Euro have fixed or two-stage airflow.

The OLED display shows the current temperature in 1° increments, the active mode (Session or On-Demand) and the battery charge level in per cent. The display is bright enough to read in daylight — unlike some devices with LCD or LED-strip displays.

Session mode

In Session mode, the V4 Pro keeps the target temperature constant for around 5 minutes — the usual session length. You draw at your own pace; the device does not cool down between draws. After the 5 minutes have elapsed, or earlier by pressing the button, the device switches off. In Session mode, battery consumption is constant per session.

On-Demand mode

In On-Demand mode, the device heats only during active drawing (holding the button down). Between draws, the chamber cools slightly — you save battery and extend plant-material use per fill. This function cannot be taken for granted in pure convection portables in this price class; many cheaper models offer only Session mode.

Switching between modes

The mode change is done via a button combination in the menu (power button plus arrow button). The display clearly indicates which mode is active each time.

At 138 grams in weight and measuring about 2,5 × 2,5 × 16 cm, the V4 Pro is one of the slimmer portables. The anodised aluminium housing feels solid without seeming bulky. It sits comfortably in the hand and almost completely disappears in a trouser pocket or small inside jacket pocket.

The manufacturing tolerances are tight — no rattling, no wobbly glass mouthpiece, precise screw threads on the battery cap. The anodised aluminium is scratch-resistant in normal carrying use. Pure convection produces significantly fewer material residues in the chamber than conduction or hybrid — this makes cleaning much easier.

Daily care after every session

• Briefly brush out the chamber with the included brush — this removes loosely adhering plant material.
• Remove the glass mouthpiece and, if necessary, briefly blow through it.

Weekly or fortnightly deep cleaning

• Soak the glass mouthpiece in 90 per cent isopropyl alcohol for 15 to 20 minutes. Then rinse with warm water and allow it to dry completely before reinserting it.
• You can thoroughly rub out the chamber with a cotton bud and a few drops of isopropyl alcohol — not too wet, so that no liquid enters the heating element.
• Wipe the outside of the device with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth.

What you should avoid

Never rinse the device completely under water. Do not use washing-up liquid in the glass mouthpiece — surfactant residues affect the flavour. Do not put the glass directly from a hot state into cold water — thermal shock can cause cracks.

The magnetic glass mouthpiece of the V4 Pro is also a native 14-mm water-pipe adapter (WPA). This means you can insert the mouthpiece directly into a 14-mm bong joint without buying an additional adapter. With a 14-to-18-mm reducer, 18-mm bong connections also work.

What water filtration brings with the V4 Pro

Water filtration cools the already cool convection vapour down further and delivers noticeably smoother draws — especially at higher temperatures (210 °C and above). When the Crafty+ is the better buy

If brand heritage from Germany, app control with boost mode, a longer warranty and the slightly more robust battery performance are important to you — and you accept the significantly longer heat-up time — the Crafty+ is stronger. Build quality is at a high level, and for medical use in Germany there are CE-certified devices from the same company.

When the V4 Pro offers more for your money

For pure convection characteristics with full glass, significantly faster heat-up time, OLED precision in 1° increments and a replaceable battery — usually at a lower market price — the V4 Pro wins. If app control is not a must, the V4 Pro is the rational choice.

When the Solo 3 V2 is the right choice

The almost twice as large battery capacity (5.000 mAh vs 2.550 mAh) means 10 to 14 sessions per charge instead of 6 to 8 — relevant for long days without socket access. The very long warranty is a genuine strength. App control and tube-shaped design have their own fans. If you prefer hybrid characteristics and accept the extra weight, the Solo 3 V2 is stronger.

When the V4 Pro fits better

Pure convection flavour profile, slimmer as a pen rather than as a tube, faster 11 seconds instead of 15 seconds, lower lowest price. Anyone who does not need app control and can offset the slightly lower battery capacity with a second replaceable 18650 battery will spend less with the V4 Pro.

The DaVinci IQ3 is a premium conduction portable with app control and a very long warranty. The comparison is methodologically interesting — two different heating methods.

Conduction vs convection: what is different in practice

Conduction (IQ3) heats the material through wall contact — vapour production is immediately available, but the material also continues heating between draws. This means longer pauses can lead to overheating, and extraction is less even over the session. Pure convection (V4 Pro) heats only during the draw — extraction is consistent across the session, and the flavour does not change strongly between draws.

What the 10 years warranty means

The DaVinci warranty covers heating-element defects over 10 years. That is a real value factor — although it is put into perspective compared with the V4 Pro by its replaceable battery, which directly solves the most common cause of vape failures yourself.

XMAX is the consumer brand of the Chinese manufacturer Topgreen Technology from Shenzhen. Topgreen is an OEM vaporizer manufacturer that has produced for a number of international brands since around 2010 while also maintaining its own XMAX line. The line’s own-brand models are known in the vape community for their value for money.

What OEM heritage means for the V4 Pro

Topgreen has established manufacturing processes for convection and hybrid vaporizers with glass and ceramic components — this experience is reflected in the build quality of the V4 Pro. The magnetic glass mouthpiece design with native WPA was unusual in this class before the V4 Pro and is an example of incremental improvement over several model generations.

What OEM origin also means

Topgreen manufactures in Shenzhen — this means the service route for warranty cases runs through importers or online retailers instead of directly to the manufacturer in Europe. What the short warranty means in practice

If the heating element, electronics or glass mouthpiece fails after 14 months, you pay for repair or replacement yourself. With branded devices from Storz & Bickel or Arizer, that is different. However, the V4 Pro has a compensating factor: the replaceable 18650 battery already covers the most common vape failure (battery wear) through your own action — you do not need any warranty for that.

Consumer rights independent of manufacturer warranty

Within the EU, the statutory 2-year warranty applies to consumer-goods purchases — independently of the manufacturer warranty. In the case of a defect present at the time of purchase, you can therefore also demand rectification from the seller for 2 years with the V4 Pro. However, that does not change the fact that warranty handling convenience is usually smoother with premium brands.

The V4 Pro uses an 18650 lithium-ion battery in a flat-top design without an integrated protection circuit ("unprotected"). This is a deliberate choice by Topgreen: the protection circuit sits in the device itself, which allows shorter batteries and reduces heat development at the battery.

Safety rules for battery replacement

1. Never use a battery with damaged wrapping — even small cuts or dents are a fire risk.
2. Always transport batteries in a dedicated battery case — direct contact with keys or coins in your pocket can cause a short circuit.
3. When replacing, pay attention to correct polarity — plus to the display, minus to the base (or according to the device marking). The device does have reverse-polarity protection, but caution is more reliable than electronics.
4. Buy batteries from reputable sources — branded cells from Samsung, Sony, Molicel are guaranteed genuine only through authorised dealers. Fake batteries of unclear origin are a real safety factor.

What you should not do

Do not use "protected" 18650 batteries with an additional protection circuit — these are often longer than the standard and do not fit mechanically. Do not use button-top batteries — current draw in the device is optimised for flat-top. Never charge damaged batteries.

Some functions of the V4 Pro are only briefly documented in the supplied manual and are often discovered in forums only after several sessions.

Pass-through charging during the session

You can charge the V4 Pro via USB-C and vape at the same time. This is useful for longer home use with an empty battery — Crafty+, Mighty+ and Solo 3 V2 also support this, but many cheaper devices do not.

The XMAX V4 Pro is one of the few options in the mid-range price span that offers pure convection heating, full-glass vapour path, OLED display with 1° increments and a replaceable 18650 battery at the same time.
