Puffco Pro 2

The Pro 2 follows the Puffco Pro, the brand’s coil-based first pen, which High Times named “Best Vape Pen”. Puffco describes the Pro 2 as the same pen in a smaller, more portable form: stainless steel instead of the predecessor’s body, a press-on instead of threaded mouthpiece, a shock-absorbing silicone base and a removable splash guard. Sesh Mode, previously exclusive to the Plus, was new as well.

Puffco has documented no color variants or special editions of the Pro 2. Accessory handles such as replacement atomizers, battery and charger appear in the archive until 2019. The Pro 2 is not related to the Plus – the parts are not compatible; only Pro coils run on a Plus battery, according to Puffco.

Unlike the coil-less Plus, the Pro 2 uses a classic heating coil: Puffco lists a Kanthal heating element inside a chamber made entirely of ceramic, with an air path free of plastics and glue. DabConnection found a ceramic rod wrapped four times with wire in its test unit – a single-coil atomizer.

At 11.5 × 13.5 mm the chamber is small and tapered, which according to Puffco minimizes waste and eases cleaning. When loading, the manual explicitly warns not to damage the coil with the tool; the support page advises loading only small balls of concentrate. Atomizers last two to three months per Puffco and can be burned clean in Sesh Mode – carefully, since that creates a lot of heat.

Five clicks lock or unlock the pen, four clicks change the setting, two clicks start Sesh Mode, holding heats manually and shuts off after 8 seconds. The LED shows the settings as Green (low, approx. 580 °F), Blue (medium, approx. 650 °F) and White (high, approx. 720 °F) – Puffco explicitly calls the values “approximate”.

Sesh Mode delivers 12 seconds of continuous heating without holding the button; DabConnection warns that on Blue and White this produces a lot of vapor. Puffco advises holding the pen upright, because the concentrate drips from the dart into the chamber by gravity – held at an angle it does not work properly.

The built-in battery has 430 mAh and delivers a maximum of 9 W. In 2017 Puffco promised “up to 100 uses per charge” – a marketing figure for short draws that no review has verified. Charging works like on the Plus via a USB charger with 510 thread: unscrew the battery, screw it on, red means charging, green means full. Puffco quotes about one hour; the charger delivers 4.2 V at 420 mA.

There is no port on the pen, so charging during use is impossible. DabConnection criticized in 2017 that the case only holds the disassembled pen and the atomizer has to be unscrewed for every charge.

According to the 2017 product page the box held the pen, a shock-resistant hard case, the USB charger, a loading tool and the instructions. The manual lists the parts as mouthpiece, splash guard, atomizer, battery, charger and tool.

Puffco sold replacement atomizers and coils separately until about 2019; today only leftover stock remains at retailers. Anyone using a Pro 2 should stock atomizers – without an intact coil the pen is useless, and Plus chambers do not fit.

The manual states a one-year manufacturer’s warranty excluding used atomizers; Puffco’s general warranty covers only the electronic base and battery, not wear or coils. Proof of purchase and a purchase from an authorized dealer are required.

The Pro 2 has not been listed at puffco.com since 2019; the product page returns 404, it is missing from the current catalog, and Puffco has deleted the spec article in its help center. There is no formal discontinuation statement, but the support page with video and manual PDF stays online. Anyone buying today buys leftover stock without a reliable parts supply.

The Pro 2 is aimed at users who want dense clouds from a very small pen and can live with coil replacements. For flavor, the Puffco Plus was already the better choice in 2017 – DabConnection called it Puffco’s best dab pen.

Anyone starting with Puffco today will find no coil pen in the range: the Plus (until 2025) and the Pivot with 3D Chamber are the successors in pen format. A Pro 2 is only worth it with replacement atomizers included.
