Puffco Pivot

So far there is only one generation of the Pivot. Puffco introduced it on October 15, 2024 in Onyx and Slate; the Slate page disappeared from the store in spring 2025. Mocha followed on March 25, 2025, together with a limited Collector's Edition set of Mocha Pivot, Mocha Hot Knife and Mocha Travel Case sold only on puffco.com. Pine arrived as a seasonal color at the end of October 2025, and Sapphire has been available since May 19, 2026 as part of the "Zest & Sapphire" seasonal collection. As of September 2026, puffco.com offers only Onyx and Sapphire; Mocha and Pine are sold out.

The color variants do not differ technically: same 3D Chamber, same heat settings, same battery. Matching mouthpiece 2-packs and Travel Cases were released with each seasonal color. The Pivot has neither a predecessor nor a successor. Compared with the older Puffco Plus, Puffco lists the 3D Chamber, real-time temperature control, the quick-release connection, USB-C, four heat settings, the light bar and haptic feedback as the differences.

The centerpiece is the 3D Chamber that Puffco shrank from the Peak Pro down to pen size. It sits in a metal housing and twists off the base. That lets you preload several chambers and swap them on the go; Puffco sells a 2-pack for exactly that. An algorithm adjusts the temperature in real time so the chosen setting holds during the draw. According to Puffco, an integrated air path with a flow filter keeps the extract at the bottom of the chamber. The chamber is small: Puffco rates the capacity as "Small" and the manual warns against overfilling. Too much material leads to leaks and sticky contacts, which the device then flags with an error code.

Four settings, shown in color on the light bar: Blue (Low, 500 °F / 260 °C) for maximum flavor with little vapor, Green (Med, 520 °F / 271 °C) as the balanced setting, Red (High, 540 °F / 282 °C) for more vapor while keeping the flavor, and White (Peak, 585 °F / 307 °C) for the densest hits. There is no freely adjustable temperature. The heat cycle lasts 45 seconds; the light bar fills while heating and then empties as a countdown. A second double-click during the cycle activates Boost Mode, which extends the cycle by 15 seconds and raises the temperature by 18 °F, about 10 °C. Puffco counts Boost as an extra heat cycle and advises against starting more than four cycles back to back, otherwise the device reports overheating and needs a break.

The battery is a built-in lithium-ion cell; Puffco does not publish its capacity in mAh. As a guideline, the manufacturer quotes up to 15 heat cycles per charge on the lowest setting; higher settings and Boost shorten that. The Dry Herb Vape Zone test (November 2025) got 10 to 15 sessions per charge. Charging is over USB-C on the bottom of the base at a maximum of 5 V / 1 A; Puffco states about 45 minutes for a full charge, while the same test measured just over an hour. There is no wireless charging. A triple-click shows the charge level on the light bar: green full, orange half, red low. If the device flashes red after a hit, Puffco says about three hits remain. Whether the Pivot can be used while charging is not documented by Puffco.

Everything runs through one button on the side. Holding it for three seconds turns the device on or off, a single click cycles the heat setting, a double-click starts the cycle, holding cancels it, and a triple-click shows the battery level. When the temperature is reached, the Pivot flashes and vibrates twice. Then hold it upright and inhale gently: Puffco explicitly warns against hard pulls and against exhaling into the mouthpiece, both of which cause splashback. Errors appear as color codes on the light bar: four white flashes mean "no chamber detected", alternating red and white signals a dirty chamber connection, five seconds of red means overheating, three red flashes an empty battery. As a gimmick there is a Disco Mode for the light bar. The silicone mouthpiece is tethered to the device and flips open for loading.

The Pivot itself has no water filtration. If you want cooler vapor, use the separately sold Pivot Glass Adapter: it twists onto the base, brings its own quick-release 3D Chamber and ships with 10 mm and 14 mm glass joints so it fits common rigs and bongs. That turns the Pivot into an e-nail for the glass you already own. The Vice review (July 2026) describes exactly this combination as the preferred way to use it, because it replaces the banger, carb cap and torch setup. Without the adapter the vapor stays noticeably warm; Dry Herb Vape Zone and Vice both name that as the main drawback in back-to-back sessions.

Puffco recommends wiping the 3D Chamber with a cotton swab in a circular motion after every hit while it is still warm. For a deep clean, detach the chamber and mouthpiece from the base and soak them in 90 percent or stronger isopropyl alcohol for 20 to 30 minutes, then let them dry upside down completely. The base must never be submerged; a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol is enough for the threads and contacts. As a rule of thumb, Puffco suggests a thorough clean every time the battery fully drains. If the device shows the red-white error or extract leaks between base and chamber, the connection is gummed up and needs cleaning. To push the chamber out of the mouthpiece, use the silicone end of a Hot Knife, never metal tools.

The box contains the Pivot base, the 3D Chamber with mouthpiece, a USB-C cable, cotton swabs and a loading tool. Original Puffco accessories: the 3D Chamber 2-pack for preloading, the Glass Adapter for glass rigs, the Mouthpiece 2-pack in silicone with a directional air path, and the Travel Case in aluminum with a magnetic lid and silicone insert that holds the Pivot, a Hot Knife and up to three jars. Puffco also offers the Hot Knife heated loading tool in sets with the Pivot. Beyond that there is a large market of third-party glass tops that replace the silicone mouthpiece.

Puffco grants a two-year limited warranty on the electronic base and one month on the chamber. Covered are defects in materials and workmanship, but not glass, normal wear, battery aging or damage from misuse. Important for buyers in Europe: the warranty applies only to purchases from authorized dealers, Puffco excludes devices bought on marketplaces such as Amazon or eBay, and replacements ship only to the country of purchase. A claim requires proof of purchase and an RMA number from support. Opening the base voids the warranty immediately. The Pivot fits users who want to vaporize concentrates on the go, discreetly and without water, and who are fine with four fixed settings. It is also an entry point into the Puffco system because it brings the 3D Chamber technology in the smallest format. If you mostly dab at home and want water filtration out of the box, the Peak is the better choice; if you want more power, app control and the largest chamber, the Peak Pro. The Proxy offers a modular concept with pipe or Core attachment and an app. Compared with the older Plus, Puffco lists the 3D Chamber, real-time temperature control, quick-release chamber, USB-C, four heat settings, light bar and haptic feedback as the Pivot's advantages.

Strengths: a real 3D Chamber in pen format with real-time control; quick-release chambers for preloading; clear feedback through light bar and haptics; USB-C charging in about 45 minutes; usable as an e-nail for existing glass with the Glass Adapter; two-year warranty on the base.

Weaknesses: a small chamber that demands small loads; up to 15 heat cycles per charge only on the lowest setting, far fewer with Boost or higher settings; only four fixed temperatures, no app; mouthpiece and chamber get warm in back-to-back sessions (Dry Herb Vape Zone, Vice); only one month of warranty on the chamber; Puffco publishes neither battery capacity nor weight.
