About this vaporizer
The Vivant Alternate has one immediately noticeable quirk: it takes two minutes to heat up. That's longer than nearly every other portable vaporizer on the market. But context matters here — the Alternate uses a genuine hybrid convection approach, and real convection heating takes time. The heating element needs to reach a stable temperature before the airflow can be warmed uniformly, and skipping that wait produces uneven results. Accept the two-minute window, and what you get in return is consistent, flavor-forward vapor that's noticeably different from what a fast conduction device produces.
The glass air path is a significant part of what makes the Alternate worth the wait. Glass imparts no flavors of its own, meaning whatever terpene profile your material has comes through cleanly. Paired with the included dosing capsules, the experience gets even cleaner — load your material into a capsule, drop it into the chamber, vape, remove. The capsule contains the mess, speeds up cooling after a session, and makes back-to-back sessions with different strains genuinely easy.
Maximum temperature is 220°C. The battery is 2100 mAh and replaceable, which is a meaningful advantage for extended use — carry a spare cell and you're not tethered to a charger. Passthrough charging is also supported for times when swapping a battery isn't an option.
Vivant backs the Alternate with a one-year warranty. This device has a clear target audience: users who care about vapor quality and flavor over speed, who are willing to use dosing capsules and wait two minutes, and who want a glass air path without paying flagship prices. For anyone who matches that profile, the Alternate delivers more than its price would suggest.

The Vivant Alternate is a portable hybrid vaporizer with a replaceable 18650 battery (2100 mAh) and stainless steel chamber. Max temperature 220 C. Dosing capsule compatible. LED display with precise degree readout. Compact and easy to maintain. Our price comparison shows current prices.
Hybrid Heating with Steel
The stainless steel chamber heats material by conduction through the wall and convection through hot air from below. Hybrid heating delivers even extraction from 100 to 220 C. Heat-up in about 30 seconds. LED display shows real-time temperature.
Replaceable 18650 Battery
The Alternate uses a standard 18650 cell at 2100 mAh. Swap an empty battery for a full one in seconds. External chargers often charge faster than the built-in USB port. Multiple batteries mean unlimited runtime on the go.
Dosing Capsules and Chamber
Stainless steel capsules keep the chamber clean. Without capsules, it holds about 0.15 g. Short, direct vapor path: chamber, glass mouthpiece, lips. No long channel collecting condensate.
Alternate vs. VLeaF
The Vivant VLeaF uses pure conduction with a fixed 2800 mAh battery and 221 C max. The Alternate offers hybrid heating, replaceable battery, and a wider temperature range. Choose the Alternate for flexibility, the VLeaF for simplicity.
Maintenance
Chamber and mouthpiece soak in isopropanol. Glass mouthpiece is replaceable. Batch-clean capsules. The 18650 cell lasts 300-500 charge cycles before replacement — far cheaper than replacing a sealed-battery device.
Oven and Vapour Quality
The Alternate's stainless steel oven heats via conduction and holds approximately 0.3 g of ground material. Heat-up time is around 30 seconds to the default 185 °C starting temperature. Full temperature control ranges from 160 °C to 220 °C in single-degree steps via the OLED display. Vapour flavour at lower temperatures is clean and reasonably smooth for a conduction device. Above 200 °C, vapour density increases but warmth rises too — using the included glass mouthpiece adapter helps cool the draw. Pack the oven firmly but not tightly for the best airflow and extraction balance.
Alternate Dual Use
The Vivant Alternate handles both dry herb and concentrates. For herbs, use the standard ceramic chamber with medium-ground material. For concentrates, insert the included quartz cup and place a small amount of wax directly on it. The temperature range of 160-230°C covers both use cases effectively.
