XMAX V3 Pro

Manufacturer Topgreen describes the V3 Pro as "pure convection": hot air is drawn through the material, and the chamber itself is not the heating element. The chamber is made of stainless steel, the airpath behind it of ceramic (the "airflow box" cools the vapour), and the mouthpiece of PC/ABS plastic. According to the manufacturer, all materials are food-safe certified.

Why do you read in many places – until recently including here – "hybrid heating"? Because the stainless steel chamber warms up during a session, and Vaporizer Wizard described the heating behaviour as "roughly three quarters convection, one quarter conduction". That is an observation about the outcome, not about the design. Structurally, there is no heated chamber wall as found in a PAX, and that is precisely what explains three characteristics confirmed by every review:

• Flavour is preserved until the end of the session, because the material is only exposed to hot air when you draw (420 VapeZone: "the best flavors … towards the beginning of the session", but without the roasted taste that conduction devices deliver towards the end).
• Vapour takes time to build. Planet of the Vapes timed it: "Vapor started to get thick around four or five seconds into the hit." Those who draw for only one or two seconds get almost nothing.
• Vapour production is limited. Without a conduction component, the immediate density that TVape describes in the Utillian 850 is absent. That is why TVape speaks of "insufficient power delivery" – the heater cannot convert the full temperature range into vapour volume.

Two reviewers also report fluctuating temperature: "It can happen that you see one temperature on the display and feel a different one in the vapour" (TVape). This is common with small convection heaters using a single 18650 cell – the heater readjusts with every draw.

The V3 Pro is operated via a power button and two arrow buttons. The OLED display shows the target and current temperature, the session timer, the battery level, and the mode. A coffee cup icon flashes while heating and becomes still once the target temperature is reached – accompanied by a vibration. All combinations according to the manufacturer's documentation:

TVape calls it "one of the most straightforward on the market"; German reviewer Alphasmog also praises the haptic feedback and 1-degree control. The mouthpiece has a small tab that lets you tap out the chamber after a session or lightly tamp the material – the stirring tool is also built into the plastic mouthpiece.

What the V3 Pro cannot do: The display cannot be rotated (the identical Cuboo Stick can do this – see editions), there is no app, and the session length can only be switched between 4 and 6 minutes, not set to the exact minute.

The V3 Pro starts in Session mode: it heats to the target temperature and holds it for 4 or 6 minutes, then shuts off. In On-Demand mode it only heats while the power button is held – a maximum of 30 seconds per draw, after which it vibrates three times and stops (manufacturer's manual). After 30 seconds without input it enters standby and shuts off after a further 120 seconds.

Reviewers are divided on the usefulness of this mode:

• In favour: Planet of the Vapes compares it to the Tinymight 2 "at less than half the price" and uses it to stretch a chamber over several days without the material degrading. TVape highlights that a convection device with both modes is "quite rare".
• Against: Vapefully calls On-Demand "more of a gimmick", Vaping360 finds the first draw "usually a bit thin", and Alphasmog concludes after two weeks: "The On-Demand function didn't convince me – a Tinymight 2 is a completely different beast."

The difference lies in expectations: a true On-Demand vaporizer like the Tinymight 2 delivers dense vapour from the first second. The V3 Pro needs its four to five seconds of build-up even in On-Demand mode, but in return it cools down immediately and conserves material. Battery: On-Demand costs roughly "a third more" according to Planet of the Vapes – 13 chambers per charge instead of 18. Those who prefer to avoid the mode lose nothing: all reviewers who rate the V3 Pro highly use it in Session mode.

All reviews are unanimous on flavour. Vaporizer Wizard calls the V3 Pro "one of the most flavourful devices in this price range", and Vape Guy describes the vapour as "surprisingly cool and smooth" – the stainless steel screen and ceramic airpath in the mouthpiece deliver more than the short vapour path might suggest. Vapefully draws the line at 200 °C: above that the vapour becomes "too hot and harsh", and with 6-minute sessions TVape also notices the mouthpiece getting warmer.

Vapour production is the point where scores diverge. Vaping360: "not super dense, but satisfying with longer draws". TVape: "I had sessions where the flavour was spot on, but the vapour production is simply not enough." Planet of the Vapes, on the other hand: after five seconds "heavy clouds", "impressively big hits". The contradiction resolves itself in draw technique:

• Long, steady draws of 8–12 seconds. The first four to five seconds fill the chamber with hot air; only after that does the vapour become dense.
• No short draws. Planet of the Vapes explicitly advises against draws of under one to two seconds – this is the only group of users to whom they would not recommend the V3 Pro.
• Draw resistance: "average – not hard, but not a walk in the park either" (TVape); Vaping360 calls it "airy yet restrictive". Alphasmog found the draw "quite tight" and attributes this to the small screen in the mouthpiece, which clogs quickly without a dosing capsule.
• Raise the temperature rather than starting high. TVape starts at 180 °C with small draws and works up to 220 °C; Vaporizer Wizard starts at 188–193 °C and increases with every draw.

Alphasmog provides the right perspective here: "It says nothing about whether a device is good just because it produces a lot of vapour" – with a convection device, temperature and terpenes determine the effect, not the visible cloud. Those who still want the cloud can reach for a water pipe adapter (see below): with it "I clear the entire chamber in one draw" (Cewpins).

The chamber is the most frequently cited drawback. Planet of the Vapes weighed 0.10 g loosely filled, 0.13 g lightly packed; TVape and Vaping360 cite 0.15 g as the upper limit. That is enough for a solo session, but not for rounds with several people – TVape expects that "frequent refilling will prove tiresome over time", and Vaporizer Wizard recommends the Arizer Solo 3 or Venty for heavy users.

Dosing capsules fit inside the chamber and solve two problems at once: they keep the fine screen in the mouthpiece clean (that was Alphasmog's main criticism of the draw), and they can be swapped pre-filled. They are not included in the base version – only the Wax Cup for concentrates. "Why not? A few extra pence wouldn't have broken the bank" (Alphasmog). The POTV Edition and the 420Vape HERO Edition include capsules.

A community note from the Cannabisanbauen forum, flagged as such: when loading with capsules, the sliding screen can be removed from the chamber; first-generation capsules have a flat lid, the second generation has a notch. One user fits a screen from the Tempest so the capsule sits "without any play or rattling". Without capsules: grind medium-fine, fill loosely, do not pack – the convection airflow needs space.

The manufacturer states that "typically after 10 seconds" the temperature is sufficient and heat-up takes "no longer than 20 seconds". Reviews measure it somewhat more conservatively:

Battery level makes the difference: with a fresh cell the V3 Pro heats up in 15–20 seconds, and closer to 25 seconds near the end of a charge. 420 VapeZone speaks of "near-instant heat-up" – compared to devices that take 60 to 90 seconds (Mighty+, Arizer Air Max), that holds true.

The V3 Pro runs on a replaceable 18650 cell (TopGreen lists either 2,550 or 2,600 mAh depending on the page). The manufacturer specifies "at least 12 sessions at 6 minutes and 220 °C" and a lifespan of approximately 350 charge cycles – after which the cell can be replaced for 10 to 15 euros, not the entire device.

The range of 5 to 18 chambers is explained by temperature and session length: 6 minutes at 220 °C drains the cell twice as fast as 4 minutes at 185 °C. Realistically, 8 to 12 sessions per charge is achievable.

Charging: USB-C; TopGreen makes no statement about use while charging. The manufacturer specifies 3 hours on a 5 V/1 A charger and 4 to 5 hours at 0.5 A – which explains why Vaporizer Wizard measured "5 hours for a depleted cell". The only faster option is an external 18650 charger with a spare cell; TVape and Vaporizer Wizard both recommend exactly this setup.

Cells: branded cells from Samsung, Sony, or LG with sufficient discharge performance – "avoid the fakes" (TVape). The manual also warns against storing the device for extended periods with a nearly flat battery.

The housing is aluminium with a textured surface that hides fingerprints (Planet of the Vapes) – not plastic, as the understated appearance might suggest. Vaporizer Wizard took the device along "skiing, mountain biking, and hiking" over several months: the housing held up, though three details did not quite.

• Magnetic mouthpiece: "The magnets are not particularly strong – if you're cycling, it could fall out" (TVape). Vaporizer Wizard lost it while skiing in a jacket pocket. Alphasmog: it holds, "but gives a slightly rattly impression".
• Battery door: Magnetic; TVape describes it as "stiff", Vaporizer Wizard says it occasionally comes loose, and Vapefully calls it "easy to damage".
• Display: "scratches fairly easily" (Vapefully). The buttons have a little play ("button play", Vaporizer Wizard).

None of this affects function – the heater, electronics, and USB-C port draw no criticism in any review. A case or removing the mouthpiece is still advisable for trouser-pocket transport. The mouthpiece itself gets warm during 6-minute sessions above 200 °C (420 VapeZone, Troy & Jerry, TVape); that is the trade-off of the short vapour path.

The box includes a Wax Cup, an insert for concentrates. The manufacturer explicitly permits only wax and solid concentrates – oils and liquids are not permitted. In practice the insert convinces nobody: Vaping360 "barely got any clouds" with "great flavour" and went back to the dab rig; TVape lists the Wax Cup among features that "don't work well enough to actually use". Anyone who vaporizes concentrates regularly is better served by a dedicated device; as an occasional option the cup is a bonus, nothing more.

With a water pipe adapter (WPA), the V3 Pro becomes a different device altogether. Cewpins takes "ball-vape-sized hits" with it and empties the chamber in a single draw; Vaping360 confirms the adapter "works well" with herb. The Planet of the Vapes adapter fits 10, 14, and 18 mm joints, covering almost any piece of glass. The water path cools the vapour enough that even 210–220 °C remains comfortable – exactly the temperatures at which the standard mouthpiece becomes harsh according to Vapefully.

The same applies to glass mouthpieces: Vaping360 found the flavour even better with the optional glass, and noted the glass parts are "nice and beefy". Vapefully points out that glass accessories require an adapter change. The 420Vape editions (Pro+, HERO) include a magnetic glass mouthpiece as standard.

A tip TVape warns against: some users remove the airflow filter cap from the glass mouthpiece to get a more direct draw. TVape tried it – "it causes the glass to heat up too quickly".

Water Pipe Setup

1. Pull off the standard mouthpiece
2. Attach the WPA and insert it into the joint of the water pipe
3. Set the water level so the diffuser is just submerged – too high and water will be drawn towards the device
4. Start the session and draw slowly; the chamber is usually empty after one or two draws

The manufacturer keeps it brief: brush out the chamber, then wipe it with a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol. The routine after every session and weekly:

After Every Session

• Tap the chamber out over the mouthpiece tab, sweep it warm with the brush
• Check the screen in the mouthpiece – without a dosing capsule it clogs quickly and then restricts the draw

Weekly

• Chamber: cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol (≥ 90 %), keep liquid away from the electronics
• Screen and ceramic cooling unit from the mouthpiece: soak in isopropyl alcohol, rinse with water, dry
• Rubber seal: water and washing-up liquid only – "don't put the rubber in alcohol" (Alphasmog), or it will turn brittle
• Replacement screens cost a few euros; with glass mouthpiece editions the glass goes into an isopropyl alcohol bath

With dosing capsules the chamber stays nearly clean, and the weekly clean is limited to the screen and mouthpiece. According to the TopGreen manual, four alcohol pads and three cotton swabs are included.

The V3 Pro is available in several variants and is sold as an OEM device under other names. Vapefully lists five editions:

In addition, there are devices of identical construction from other brands. Alphasmog has placed both alongside the V3 Pro: The Cuboo Stick from Verdampftnochmal is "not a 1:1 copy, as the device has been optimised" – it heats up to 230 °C instead of 220 and can rotate the display, which helps when using a water pipe. The Smono Sunshine, on the other hand, is an exact twin with 220 °C and no display flip. Alphasmog's advice: "Look at the details of the devices – sometimes the devil really is in the detail, like 10 degrees more here." The price comparison below lists the twins as separate products.

TopGreen specifies convection, session and on-demand operation and a replaceable 18650 battery for both models. The V4 Pro adds adjustable airflow and a glass/ABS mouthpiece. These differences do not establish longer battery life or better flavour. If those features are unimportant to you, compare current V3 Pro offers against the complete V4 Pro purchase price.

A Good Fit

• Beginners who want to find out whether convection suits them without a £300 risk (420 VapeZone: "a great starter vape", Cewpins: "gives you a good idea of what herbal vaporizing is without breaking the bank")
• Solo users with short sessions who value flavour
• On-the-go users who carry two cells instead of a power bank
• Water pipe users looking for a small device for their glass

Not a Good Fit

• Heavy users and group sessions – the 0.10–0.15 g chamber forces frequent refills (TVape, Vaporizer Wizard, Planet of the Vapes)
• Cloud chasers – without a water pipe, vapour volume remains below hybrid and premium devices
• Short drawers – those who draw for only one or two seconds get nothing (Planet of the Vapes)
• Concentrate focus – the Wax Cup is a workaround at best

The V3 Pro covers 100–220 °C; reviewers use the range between 180 and 220 °C. Starting point according to TVape at 180 °C, according to Vaporizer Wizard at 188–193 °C, then increasing in small steps.

More finely ground material needs 5–10 °C less, dry material 5 °C less, to avoid combustion. Those wanting dense vapour without a water pipe will hit the 220 °C limit with the V3 Pro – TVape would have liked "a slightly higher maximum temperature"; the identically built Cuboo Stick offers 230 °C.

Device Won't Turn On

• Press the power button three times quickly – not five times, not slowly
• Is the cell inserted the right way round? Positive pole towards the marked contact
• Cell deeply discharged: charge for 15 minutes, then try again; the manual advises never to store the device for long with an empty battery

Little Vapour

• Draws too short – vapour only becomes dense after 4–5 seconds
• Screen in the mouthpiece clogged – clean it or use a dosing capsule
• Packed too tightly – fill loosely, the convection airflow needs air
• Temperature below 185 °C – increase in 5 °C steps

Vapour Too Hot or Harsh

• Above 200 °C without water cooling (Vapefully) – lower the temperature or use a WPA
• 6-minute session – switch to 4 minutes (Power + "+")
